Role Overview
As an Applied AI Engineer II, you will act as a hands-on technical builder, driving the design, enhancement, and delivery of high-impact, full-stack digital products across Deloitte. You will combine traditional software engineering excellence with modern GenAI and agentic workflows to build intelligent features directly into production platforms.
Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will champion lean delivery, cost accountability, and high-quality code from initial concept through production deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Cost-Aware & Outcome-Driven Engineering: Own the end-to-end efficiency of your applications, actively managing cloud infrastructure, inference overhead, and token utilization alongside code quality.
- Technical Advocacy & Full-Lifecycle Ownership: Lead requirements gathering, architectural drafting, rapid prototyping, unit testing, integration, and operational support while maintaining code integrity.
- Agile & Experimental Mindset: Champion rapid, low-cost iteration over heavy upfront planning. Focus on early user feedback, shipping maintainable solutions, and quickly validating ideas.
- Modern Agentic SSDLC Practice: Apply automated pipelines (from discovery to CI/CD and operations) following DevSecOps and AI-augmented, spec-driven development standards.
- Cross-Functional Co-Creation: Partner closely with product management, UX/UI designers, and delivery teams to balance usability, technical feasibility, and business value.
- Technical Communication & Alignment: Articulate complex architectural choices and trade-offs clearly to both technical peers and non-technical stakeholders through evidence-based reasoning.
- Continuous Improvement & Domain Adaptability: Quickly ramp up on domain-specific domains, address technical debt proactively, and mentor teammates on emerging AI patterns and frameworks.
